First game at 2:00 PM, at the Hillgate Terrace Courtyard. Check the bracket page for your start time and board.

How the tournament works

Sign up with a partner. Signups close once the bracket is made.
With few teams we play a round robin (everyone plays everyone). With more, a double-elimination bracket, so one loss does not knock you out. With a lot of teams, single elimination.
Several boards run at once. On the bracket page, pick your team to see roughly when and where you play next.
Start times are estimates and shift with how long games take. Please stay nearby so you are ready when your game is called.
When it is your turn, go to your assigned board. Tell the host the score when your game ends.

Teams

Two players per team. Partners stand at opposite boards and throw from the same side, then walk to the other board after each inning.

Bags

Each player throws 4 bags per inning, alternating with the other team. Bags on the board or in the hole only count at the end of the inning.

Scoring

Bag in the hole = 3 points. Bag on the board = 1 point. Bags on the ground do not count and are removed. Points cancel: if you score 5 and your opponents score 3, you get 2.

Winning

First team to 21 points wins. Games are played to 21 or more, and you do not need to hit 21 exactly.

Throwing

Stay behind the front of your board while throwing. A bag that hits the ground before landing on the board is dead, even if it bounces up.

Who throws first

A coin flip, or the winners of the last game throw first. The team that scored last in an inning throws first in the next.
